Lesson Ideas

Read a Veterans Day picture book and then have students write cards that can be taken to a local Vet hospital.

Ideas for after reading:
  1. Give each student a marshmallow
  2. Put pictures of food in story on blocks. In groups at tables have them build a tower in sequence. Give them time to try it on their own and then go over it slowly as a group to self-correct if needed.

Read a nonfiction book about Turkeys. Bring in turkey tails, feathers, beard, feet, etc. to show students.

Make

Create a leafless tree on a bulletin board or with real tree branches put in a pot. Have staff and students write on a paper leaf something they are thankful for, their favorite book, something kind someone did for them. . .
