The Computational Mechanics Research Lab (CMRL) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar conducts interdisciplinary research in computational mechanics, advanced composite materials and architected auxetic structures. The laboratory develops computational and experimental approaches to understand and predict the mechanical behaviour, damage and failure of engineering materials and structures.

Current research focuses on Computational Modelling, Composite Materials and Auxetic Structures. The laboratory develops advanced computational models for fracture and fatigue analysis, investigates graphene-hybridized fibre-reinforced composites for improved durability and designs novel auxetic architectures for lightweight, impact-resistant engineering applications. Through the integration of computational modelling, additive manufacturing and experimental validation, CMRL aims to develop innovative solutions for aerospace, automotive, energy and defence sectors.
