She is presently working as an Assistant Professor at School of Liberal Arts, at IIT Jodhpur. Before joining IIT Jodhpur she was working at NIT Rourkela for two years. Her research focuses on the psychological and neural underpinnings of emotion processing and emotion-cognition interactions. By applying a range of approaches and methodologies including EEG, Brain Stimulation and computational modelling of brain networks and behaviour. Dr Dhaka’s focus areas are Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology; Sleep, Cognition, and Affect Regulation. 

Her recent research projects funded by ICSSR, DST focus on a multidisciplinary perspective on affect regulation, the interaction of sleep and emotion, and understanding of how affect regulation strategies might be applied to improve overall decision-making. Dr Dhaka has published numerous research papers in various journals i.e. Neuroscience Letters, Psychological Thought,  Journal of Sleep Research and contributed to book chapters too.

She has also affiliated with the Center for Brain Science and application, School of AIDE at IIT Jodhpur. She has research collaborations with academicians including University of Pennsylvania, NBRC, Jadavpur University, IIT Delhi, IIT Indore, IIT Guwahati and AIIMS Jodhpur, India. Dr Dhaka has won many awards and fellowships like DAAD, DST CSRI Postdoctoral Fellowship, DST IAS Summer Research Fellowship, DBT-IPLS Fellowship, FENS-IBRO PERC and the Brain Prize.
