Ms. Hemapriya Raju, a Ph.D. student working under the guidance of Dr. Saurabh Das in the SIGMA Research Lab, Department of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India, has been selected as one of the recipients of the IEEE GRSS IDEA Professional Development Microgrants 2022 of 500 USD.
Mr. Vaibhav Tyagi, a Ph.D. student working under the guidance of Dr. Saurabh Das in the SIGMA Research Lab, Department of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India, has been selected as one of the recipients of the IEEE GRSS IDEA Professional Development Microgrants2023 of 500 USD.

About GRSS
The Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) is a technical Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). GRSS fosters engagement of its members for the benefit of society through science, engineering, applications, and education as related to the development of the field of geoscience and remote sensing. GRSS is one of the 39 societies of IEEE, the largest academic and professional Society with about 430,000 members in 160 countries. GRSS has more than 4200 members in 94 countries. It has currently 79 chapters all over the world (16 of them are student chapters), and 11 ambassadors.
The fields of interest of GRSS span science and engineering, and include theory, concepts, and techniques of remote sensing of the Earth, oceans, atmosphere, and space, as well as the processing, interpretation, and dissemination of this information:

About IEEE GRSS Student Chapter
An IEEE student chapter provides opportunities to meet and learn from fellow IEEE Student and Graduate Student Members and engage with professional IEEE members locally. We at IIT Indore have begun IEEE GRSS in 2019, with the same motto of enhancing and engaging our activities with professionals from various fields to improvise our abilities under the domain of STEM. We began with 6 members and the current strength peaked up to 10 members.
The IEEE GRSS Student Chapter is actively involved in organising technical events such as the Distinguished Lecturer Program, professional events and webinars, and workshops, membership drives, opportunities to network with peers, and various outreach activities. The IEEE GRSS Student Chapter members are focusing on creating an interactive platform for young professionals such as academicians, scientists, technologists, and engineers to discuss, explore, and collaborate in the fields of Geoscience and Remote sensing.
