Calling all curious minds! This summer, dive into the exciting world of Engineering Biology with Microfluidics at the Illinois Institute of Technology! This workshop is funded in part by the NSF.
The BIOMIC or Bioengineering Innovations with Microfluidics workshop will equip you with the fundamentals and applications of microfluidics needed to transform biological ideas into reality. The workshop will explore cutting-edge themes like microfluidics, tissue engineering, biomanufacturing, and engineering approaches in drug discovery.
This year's workshop will focus on microfluidic device engineering.
No prior experience needed! Whether you're a biology buff or an engineering enthusiast, we welcome your unique perspective.
Here's what you'll get:
Hands-on Learning: Identify real-world challenges in Biology and work with mentors to solve them.
Master the Fundamentals: Explore cutting-edge themes like Microfluidics, tissue engineering, biomanufacturing, and how engineering approaches are revolutionizing drug discovery.
Sharpen Your Skills: Develop essential scientific communication skills and practice presenting your findings throughout the workshop.
Showcase Your Work: Culminate your experience by presenting your research through an engaging oral poster presentation.
At Illinois Tech, you'll gain access to state-of-the-art facilities and join a community of passionate learners. Our mission? To empower students like you to become the next generation of innovators, revolutionizing the future of science and engineering!
Who can apply?
Current Undergrads: This workshop is open to all undergraduate and Master's students currently enrolled at a U.S. institution.
No Prior Experience Needed: Whether you're a biology whiz, an engineering enthusiast, or just curious about science, we welcome you! A background in engineering, biology, or microfluidics is not required.
A valid US social security number or a taxpayer identification number is required.
We especially encourage applications from students from non-engineering disciplines and diverse backgrounds, particularly those underrepresented in science and engineering.
