Electric Drives and Energy Conversion Laboratory
Welcome to EDEC
Welcome to website of the laboratory for Electric Drives and Energy Conversion at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Our group specializes in the design, analysis and application of power electronics, electric machines and adjustable speed drives. New and emerging technologies have made energy conversion an extremely exciting and challenging area, resulting in increased demands for advanced research. At EDEC, we strive to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and active research.
Over the years, our research group has focused on the development of modern control techniques and hardware for renewable energy systems; power electronics and motor drives in electric and hybrid vehicular applications; design, control & analysis of adjustable speed electronic drive systems; fault detection & just-in-time maintenance in adjustable speed drives and numerical analysis of energy conversion in electromechanical devices; thermal management in electric machines and energy storage systems to name a few areas. Results from our research have been published in several papers, patent disclosures and tutorials. We have an excellent facility and a highly motivated team that focuses on the application of state-of-the-art technology to modern applications. This website presents a summary of research areas, and current interests of our group. I invite you to explore our website and appreciate your interest. Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information.
