Creating the next generation systems engineering approaches.
Welcome to the Computational Systems Engineering Lab (CSEL) at Illinois Tech! We explore the theoretical foundations and methods of systems engineering discipline as the complexity of systems keeps growing. Our current focus is to investigate how the systems engineering practices respond to ever-increasing available data, which is highly interconnected and interdependent. We study the data centricity of systems engineering practices to design and develop sustainable and smart systems as the enterprises become more competitive. We currently focus on aerospace systems; however, we are also interested in exploring these research areas in different domains.

CSEL's Mission
Our aim is to create state-of-the-art systems engineering techniques that allow for automation. To accomplish this, we have been conducting interdisciplinary research, where we can cross fertilize computational science methods and systems engineering methodologies. We are also interested in how this interdisciplinary work benefits digital engineering practices, such as digital twins. Currently we are thinking a lot about aerospace systems, but we are also interested in exploring these research areas in different domains.
