B.C Roy Memorial Library, IIMC
The Library of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta was set up in March 1962 and named B. C. Roy Memorial Library in the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the first chairman of the Institute. It is fully airconditioned, Wi-Fi and RFID enabled total area is more than 30000 sq. ft. The total collection is more than 2 lakhs.
This Library is considered to be one of the best library in Asia in the area of Management Science and allied subjects. It acts as the learning resource centre and occupies a unique place in the academic and research activities of the Institute.
It is a fully automated modern Library and Information Centre which provides current, accurate and authoritative information from print and electronic resources using state-of-the-art technology.

The goals of this Workshop
To develop skills in researchers and LIS professionals to face the challenges associated with the latest skills for Data Science and AI/ML applications in the domain of Library & Information Science (LIS).
To introduce new generation tools for data wrangling, data reconciliation, text visualization, citation network visualization, Named-Entity Recognition, Opinion mining or Sentiment analysis, Automated Systematic Review, and RAG – Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
To provide hands-on training in open source data wrangling software and AI/ML tools & techniques based on case studies.

Dr. Narayan Chandra Ghosh
Dr. Ghosh is the Librarian of the Indian Institute of Management of Calcutta. Prior to that he served the British Council Library, Kolkata, American Library, Kolkata, Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (EIILM), Army Institute of Management, Kolkata, CSIR- Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER-Kolkata).
He is the recipient of the Fellow of the Society of Information Science (FSIS). He has successfully organized many national-level seminars, workshops, and imparted training programmes. He has also served as a member of the library advisory committee in many reputed organizations. He edited two books and published a good number of research articles. He delivered invited lectures in various seminars, symposiums, and conferences. He is also associated with the University of Calcutta, University of Kalyani, Netaji Subhas Open University, and Indira Gandhi National Open University as a guest teacher of the LIS department.
His research interests are in Open Source, Open Access, and Bibliometrics in Information Sciences.

Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay
Dr. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay is a Professor in Library and Information Science, Department of Library and Information Science, Kalyani University. Prof. Mukhopadhyay, a recipient of Best Young LIS Teacher award (IASLIC), is an open source enthusiast and worked as a developer and promoter of many open source projects.
He has more than 100 papers in journals and conference volumes, and five books in his beeline. His recent book on Interoperability and Retrieval is published by UNESCO, Paris. Prof. Mukhopadhyay acted as a metadata consultant for the project NDLI (National Digital Library of India) hosted by IIT, Kharagpur.
He is presently a member of the Advisory Committee for National Virtual Library Project of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. He developed VidyaOnline as e-learning portal for Vidyasagar University in 2006 and presently running three online courses in SWAYAM platform.
His research interest in Open source, Open access and Open standards, AI&ML applications, Data Carpentry, RAG architecture, LLM and Semantic Search in Information sciences.

The Joka Campus of the Institute is situated on Diamond Harbour Road, about 20 kms. from the Howrah Station, 18 kms. from the Sealdah Station, and 35 kms. from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The campus is about 2 kms. south of the Joka Tram Terminus and about 3 km. south of the Thakurpukur Bus Terminus. To reach IIM Calcutta Joka Campus, you may avail the services mentioned below: Prepaid taxis are available from Howrah/Sealdah Railway Station and the Airport to IIM Calcutta Joka Campus.

Financial Research and Trading Lab (FRTL) , IIMC
The Financial Research and Trading Lab (FRTL) at IIM Calcutta was set up, at a modest scale, in November 2008 to undertake cutting edge research on financial markets using real time high frequency data from financial markets of India and around the world.
In 2011, the grant from the Government of India helped the Lab grow into a world-class centre of excellence. The Lab has significantly augmented its physical infrastructure and procured international databases and software.

No. of Participants: Maximum 50 (First come, first served).
Accommodation: The registration fee does not include the accommodation charges. Outstation candidates are requested to arrange their own accommodation. Details are provided for booking by themselves.
Applicants must have basic computing skills (preferably in a Linux environment) with a library science background (preferably with an MLISc degree)
Researchers from other disciplines may also register.
Each participant will be provided an individual desktop system for practice at the workshop.
Registration fees include kits, tea & snacks (Morning & Afternoon), and working Lunch.
