Biography

My name is Diane Gutherman and I am the  Honors and 6th Grade Math teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  I am a proud Philadelphia native, and a product of Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools.  I attended elementary school in South West Philadelphia at St. Barnabas School, where I had the privilege of being educated by the Immaculate Heart of Mary sisters.  I attended St. Maria Goretti High School for Girls in South Philadelphia and graduated in 1986.  It was there that I acquired my love for Math as a part of the championship Mathletes team!  I attended Villanova University, where I graduated with degrees in Honors Interdisciplinary Humanities and English in 1990.  I attended Widener University Master's degree teacher education program where I earned my teaching credentials to be certified K through 12th grade. 

I have been teaching in different capacities for the last 25 years, including teaching high school in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia. I taught for 18 years in different roles at the community college level, and at Rowan University and most recently, at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, where I am currently the Honors and 6th Grade Math teacher.

I have two grown daughters, Grace and Claire, and I live in Roxborough with my husband Michael.  

I enjoy West Highland White terriers, (I had a Westie for almost 19 years) hiking in nature, bird watching, traveling, reading, concerts and theater, and being at home with family and friends.

I am very happy to be teaching and working with the wonderful children at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Roxborough!
