No Paint Drill

Directions:

1. Players play three on three in the half court (you can also play 4 on 4 or 5 on 5)

2. The ball is live immediately

3. The goal for the defense is to keep the ball out of the paint and prevent the offense from scoring

4. Make it, take rules

5. Scoring breakdown:

• +1 each time a player with the ball gets one foot in the paint while holding the basketball

• +2 for a made jump shot

• +3 for a made lay-up

Other Teaching Points:

• Plug the gaps and be in position early

• Contain the ball and don't allow straight line drives

• Contest all shots and finish with a rebound

• Maintain proper defensive positioning
