4 on 4 Thibs Closeouts

Directions:

1. x2 and x4 defensive slide to the middle and touch

2. x1 and x3 defensive slide to the middle and touch

3. After touching, all four defenders close out to their men

4. Upon catching the ball, the four offensive players take three dribbles and the defender slides with them.

5. After three dribbles, the offense picks the ball up and the defense goes into a dead call.

Other Teaching Points:

• Closeout with proper technique

• Communicate your closeout (i.e. "I got ball!")

• Move on the air-time of the ball - be there on the catch

• Closeout with proper foot positioning (match feet) and pick-up points (red light, yellow light, green light, etc.)

• Maintain proper defensive slide technique and big step on the first dribble

• One modification could be having the offensive players use a change of direction move after first few dribbles before picking the ball up (diagram four)
