Payment Guidelines for field staff

The standard payment guidelines rates applicable across projects are:

Core/Standard payment rates:

Number of paid work days in a month (26 + 4 paid Sundays), research team may decide to pay for Sundays as day off depennding on the financial bandwidth. The field staff should be encouraged to take rest on Sundays, however, if in time-sensitive situations if project decides to allow field staff to work on Sundays, should pay for these additional days. The paid Sunday off can not be accumulated and is subject to financial bandwidth.

Stipend per day

Surveyor: 425 INR per day

Supervisor (+ Back checkers): 525 INR per day

Monitor: 625 INR per day

• Please see that all national holidays are mandatory paid day offs. Staff should not work on the national holidays and these should be paid holidays

Standardized DA rates                                              

Surveyor: 350

Other key details

*Standardized training DA: 350/- per day

*Projects may choose to provide a higher DA in following circumstances:

·         If the duration of the data collection activity or the round of data collection is short (less than a month or just about a month)

·         If the duration is long but the field staff is expected to move and change district or location within a month.

·         If project is operating in a metro, projects in such cities may budget provide a higher DA

·         For Delhi, as a standard, the minimum DA applicable (including training) should be 400/- per day
