At 8:15 we arrived at the high school, they gave us a small tour and then the presentations started at 9:15. Every group made a presentation about their country, town and high school. Then we all went to physical education and we climbed and we were helped by the students from Luxembourg. We had a break and we returned to class. We were divided into groups with people from other countries and played some ice breaker games to get to know each other. After that, the teachers started explaining the project. The history teacher introduced the topic of migration and we began to work. In the afternoon, we returned home to host families.
On February 20, we started the day by talking about Italian immigration in Luxembourg, which was in French but then translated into English for us. After that, we took a bus headed to the City of Luxembourg. The first thing we did when we arrived was go to a food museum of the butcher shops and all the food production there. We had about an hour and a half to eat and we visited a Latin radio station after. The radio station had speakers of Portuguese descent. After they gave us a brief summary of the place, our groups did interviews and blogs. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant called Chiche! in which the employees were of foreign origin and had food meals from other countries. We then returned to our foster homes.
Today, we woke up at 7:00 and reached the high school by 8:15. We had a class, and at 9 a.m., a bus picked us up for Dudelange, an important industrial town known as "the Italian town”, for its colorful houses and numerous cafes. Later, we enjoyed lunch in the town center. By 13:30, we got on a bus to Rumelange, where we explored the historic mines. After a full day, we returned home to have dinner and rest with our new families.
Today we went to school and worked in groups on Canva projects, Padlets, and vlogs. Once we finished our project work, we took a break and enjoyed playing cards together until it was time to leave. Later, we headed to a shopping center in the city for a meal and a stroll around the mall. Finally, our friends and teachers took us to a skating rink where we all had a great time before going back home with our host families.
In the morning, we gathered at the high school and worked on our projects. At 11:50, we were given free time for lunch, and we went to a Mexican restaurant in Luxembourg. Later, we explored the city until it was time to return to school and prepare the “Cultural foodprints” dishes for the farewell dinner. Finally, we had dinner and presented our work.
