For this first project, we will go together through the following tasks:
To start the project, we will think and share (1-2-4) and then we will do a brainstorming to create a mind map. In our map we will organize everything we already know about the human body, which is a lot.
At first, we will be thinking about the following questions and making lists of concepts:
Why do we eat (and drink)?
What do we obtain from food?
What happens to our body if we do not eat?
What do we obtain from drinking water?
What happens to our body if we do not drink?
Why do we breathe?
What do we breathe? What is in the air around us?
What do we obtain from the air that we breathe?
What happens if we do not breathe?
What do we eat? What should we eat to be healthy?
Healthy habits about food, water and breathing air.
What happens in our body with the nutrients that we take when we eat and breathe?
Where does food go? How?
Where does drinking water go? And food water?
Do we use everything we eat, drink and breathe? If not, what do we do with the waste?
Secondly, we will create the initial mind map for the project.
Then, we will divide the class into teams and distribute roles.
In this task you should carefully read the project supporting notes in search of new words that you do not know in English. As you will see, in those notes there are many words in red (basic vocabulary about health, human body and nutrition).
These and other interesting words appear in the following vocabulary document , grouped by subject.
Your task will be to complete the meaning of all those words and add any other new english word that you learn in this project.
In this task, you will work with your team.
In each team, you will start by discussing the content of the slides that will be used for our final team oral presentation.
You will receive a worksheet package with the template for the slides. The contents have been partially outlined by your teacher. Using this package, you should discuss the content of each slide with your teammates and reach an agreement about it BEFORE writing anything on the worksheet. (DINÁMICA DE LÁPICES AL CENTRO).
Once you have finished the task, each team member will have a whole presentation about human nutrition. Only then can you take the tablet and create the digital version for the presentation, that will be used to present it orally to the rest of your classmates.
Using your finished team presentation, you will rehearse together the whole presentation to be presented to your classmates in the coming task.
In this task, each team will present their presentation to the rest of the class, with the following indications:
You will not present it in full, but only a part. Be prepared to present ANY part of the presentation.
Not all team members will have the same qualification in the team oral presentation (it may happen but it does not have to be that way).
