5th Grade ELA

Whether math, science, social studies, or even P.E., it is always useful to know how to read. That's what ELA is for. We will read short stories together, building skills that not only strengthen reading techniques, but also demonstrates how much fun reading can be.

That way you'll be set up for success - no matter the class you're in.

Trimester 1 will focus on:

• Inferences and Text Evidence
• Theme and Summary (Literature)
• Main Idea and Summary (Informational)
• Opinion/Persuasive Writing

Trimester 2 will focus on:

• Story Elements (Literature)
• Text Structure (Informational)
• Figurative Language/Poetry
• Creative/Narrative Writing

Trimester 3 will focus on:

• Review/MCA Test Prep
• Informative and Research Writing
