Why Ditmas?

Ditmas is a middle school for ALL children. From the moment our students walk through the door, they are greeted with warmth, knowledge, and a plethora of programs. Our school is a community that is inclusive of a multi-cultural environment. With the collaboration between teachers, parents, and administration our students are offered rigorous instruction in order to meet the needs of the 21st century child. Classes are taught by highly qualified teachers who sincerely care about the academic process.

Ditmas is comprised of 3 academies: The 6th Grade Exploratory Academy (SEA), Academy of Performing and Visual Arts (APVA), and Law and Community Service (LCS). Each academy is unique as it offers a variety of programs for our students. All courses are aligned to the CCLS (Common Core Learning Standards) across all subject areas. Various STEM programs taught at Ditmas include Lego Robotics, Globaloria, and of course, coding. Some STEAM programs include Trash Troopers and Story Studio. Our children are very much involved in making these programs come to life. The curriculum is innovative, creative, and promotes critical thinking. Some of our students take the Algebra, Living Environment and Language Proficiency Regents in the eighth grade as well as the Specialized HS Exams. All of our students are immersed in a school culture where students are first, expectations are high, and there are no excuses.
