Strings on Wings

Course Description: This is the beginning class open to 6th - 9th graders.  Most have little or no prior experience with a stringed instrument. Instruments, Sound Innovations for String Orchestra Book 1, and other supplies are loaned to students at no additional cost and must be returned or replaced at the end of the semester. Students will choose either the violin, viola, cello, or string bass. The student will develop skills necessary to play their instrument of choice with facility and skill. These skills will include, but are not limited to, technical facility, scale development, artistic expression, and instrumental care. This will be accomplished through in-class practice, ensemble playing, and personal practice. Students will be graded on participation, concert attendance, and personal improvement.
