HUNGARY

In October we organised two drawing competitions for the students of our school. Both competitions were connected to ERASMUS+ project ’A magical dream’. The topic of the first competition was students’ favourite animal, and in the second competition students had to design posters about animal protection.

At the end of November we organised a campaign to support a dog shelter in our town, Eger. The students collected blankets, bed linens, old clothes, pots, dog food and medicine in order to help the dogs. On the day of the donation our students also had the opportunity to take the shelter dogs for a walk.

On 4th October we celebrated International Animals’ Day with the following programmes: presenting small pets and animals, like parrots, hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs and cats, conversation about the work of dog shelters and about adopting an animal. Students also had the possibility to bring their own pets into the school and show them to their schoolmates.

As part of our Animal Assisted Therapy Erasmus + application, we had a workshop with therapeutic helper dogs in our school on April 18, 2018. The two members of the "Say Pup" Therapy and Assistant Public Benefit Association, together with their dogs, came to our school. During the unusual lessons classes 5.a, 6.b and 6.c got acquainted with the work of the association. The students understood the concept of therapeutic dogs, They discovered the different types of therapeutic dogs for example: a guardian, a rogatory working dog, a disabled helper, an aneurysm (epilepsy, diabetes) and a hearing impaired. The highlight of the lesson was a series of contests where the kids had to guide the dogs on a given track without a leash. The next task of the project will be to teach animal-supported lessons and to write lesson plans in English and Hungarian.

1. Horse Therapy for disabled students in Szarvaskő, Hungary.

3rd June 2019

The participants travelled to Szarvaskő by bus, where they had the possibility to spend a day on a horse farm, getting to know horse therapy. After introducing the trainers, the participants took part in outdoor introductory and teambuilding games and experienced creative team activities, including ball games, balancing on a rope while supporting each other, and other activities, which prepared the participants to try horse riding. In the middle of the day the participants viewed a horse therapy lesson with two students from Szent Imre Catholic Primary School. The lesson was accompanied by a professional guidance by the horse therapy trainer. He summarized the results he achieved with the nine students taking part in the program. 6 June, 2019. English Drama Gala in Eger during the LTTA

Classes, groups, the choir and pupils with different musical instrument performed in the English Drama Gala. It was a great theatre activity to help students explore the limits of their bodies and physical movement, as well as take on different personas with the help of animal and human characters. Partners then discussed the importance and benefits of drama and performing arts in education, especially with animal characters. We agreed on 10 developmental benefits: brain building, vocabulary building, problem-solving, empathy, motor skills, emotional development, imitation, gender exploration, socialization, imagination. Dissemination of the event happened in various ways: local TV report, report on the website of the Hungarian school, report on eTwinning platform and on the joint website.

ABANDONED ANIMALS: Hungary-Macedonia

In this activity Hungarian pupils will work together with Macedonian pupils, so first pupils create contact on eTwinning.

1. A pair of photos (before and after) will be sent to Hungarian students by Macedonian teachers, and to Macedonian pupils by Hungarian teachers at the same time.

2. Students in both countries are expected to create a story based on the photos sent and the questions agreed on previously.

3. Meanwhile both Hungary and Macedonia are expected to interview the present owner of the pets in the photo to find out its real story.

4. The stories created by the students and the real stories of the pets are compared by the students during a skype meeting agreed on previously.

5. Photos and videos of the skype meeting are uploaded on eTwinning.

The questions are as follows:

Where was the pet found? Who found it? Has the pet's behaviour changed in any way since it was found? How has it changed? How did the different members of the family react to the pet? Where does it sleep? Who takes care of the pet?
