I am broadly interested in the area of natural language processing with a focus on information extraction and knowledge extraction from scientific literature. I have contributed several key methods and is recognized as an expert in these fields. I received several awards, including the NSF CAREER Award in 2023. I am recognized by AMiner as 2022 AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Honorable Mention in Database, and by Baidu as one of the 2022 Global Top Chinese Young Scholars in AI. I was a postdoc at the Department of Computer Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign after obtaining her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from SUNY Buffalo in 2017.

Candidates are to work with Dr. Qi Li towards Ph.D. degrees at Computer Science Department at Iowa State University, conducting research in data mining and applied machine learning.
Competitive applicants will have a strong computer science background with exposure to applied math and statistics. Applicants from other disciplines with strong math background and motivations will also be considered (including but not limited to Information and Computational Sciences, Electrical Engineering, etc). Successful candidates will receive financial support.
