As a faculty or staff member at HWRHS or MRMS, you have digital access to The New York Times! Get started by following these easy steps:
Visit nytimes.com/passes to activate your New York Times digital pass.
On nytimes.com/passes, click on "Create Account" and log-in via Google, using your @hwschools.net email address. If you already have a NYTimes.com account associated with your school email address, log in with those credentials. Licenses are only available for @hwschools.net accounts. See the next page about using articles with students.
While we are not able to provide individual passes for students at this time, teachers can use the "gift article" feature to provide access to specific articles to students. You have the ability to "gift" up to 10 articles each calendar month. Click this link to learn more about this feature.
Validate your email address. Check your email inbox for a confirmation message from The New York Times. Click on the link in your confirmation message to validate your email address and claim your New York Times Digital Pass. Note: If the confirmation email didn’t arrive, check your spam folder. If it isn’t there, send an email from your school email address to edu@nytimes.com with subject line: “Academic Pass - no verification email.”
Success! You have successfully claimed a Digital Pass when you see the "Start Your Access" screen.

The Library has a subscription to Newsela for students and staff. Staff should go to Newsela.com and sign up for an account using their school Google accounts to get started.
You can sync your Google Classrooms with Newsela and assign articles directly to students. Newsela provides 5 different lexile levels for all of the articles they offer and staff have the ability to embed understanding checks, polls, and other assignment features directly into the articles for students to work through.
