How the Reading Challenge works... 

• Each month, students and families choose a book that fits with the monthly challenge prompt.  Need a book? Ask school and public librarians, as well as independent bookstore employees, for help locating a book. 

• Students read the monthly book.  For younger students, family members may read the monthly book with their children. 

• Schools have Passport Cards that participating students can use to check off when a book is read.  Each school will indicate where the Passport Cards can be located. 

• When students reach a benchmark reading 4, 8, and 12 books, the student (or family member if the student is under 13) can fill out a short form to tell the Massachusetts Center for the Book about what was read.  The link for the form will be updated at the end of June. 

• Once entries are in, the Massachusetts Center for the Book will pull drawings for prizes. Monthly participation determines eligibility.
