Croeso nol, Ysgol Y Bryn families!
We’ve had a wonderful start to the new school year—it’s been brilliant to see children settle in so quickly, it's like they've never been away!
Safeguarding remains our top priority. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring every child feels safe and supported, both in person and online.
Exciting residential trips ahead:
Year 4 will soon enjoy a Cardiff Bay residential—please sign up via Parent Pay by next Friday.
Looking ahead, our Year 6 students will take part in the Llangrannog 2026 residential, running from Monday 15–Friday 19 June 2026.
Dates to note include Inset days, Kerbcraft for Year 2, the Llain Year 5 trip, flu vaccinations, Parents’ Evenings, our school disco, and more—all listed in your “Dates for the Diary.”
Our school calendar will be with you shortly that you'll be able to subscribe to which will sync automatically with your calendar... we're working on the technical side of things!
We’re also delighted that Bryn Beyond after-school clubs will return next week—these sessions offer fantastic extracurricular opportunities for our pupils. Full details and booking info are available on Parent Pay.
Our school development priorities for 2025–2026 focus on strengthening everyday Welsh use, improving maths standards, empowering pupils to articulate their learning, and embedding enquiry-driven learning across the curriculum.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to a school year filled with curiosity, growth, and shared success. I look forward to what we’ll achieve together!
At Ysgol Y Bryn, keeping our children safe is our top priority. We are fully committed to promoting the health, wellbeing and protection of every pupil, and we take our responsibilities very seriously.
Our staff are trained to recognise and act on any concerns, and every adult in school — from teachers to lunchtime supervisors — plays a key role in creating a safe, caring environment. We have designated safeguarding leads, Mr. Williams (Headteacher) and Mrs. Ryan (Deputy Headteacher), who are responsible for making sure the right support is given when needed.
We teach children how to keep themselves safe, build trusted relationships, and help them feel confident speaking up if something worries them. Our curriculum includes lessons on relationships, emotions and staying safe, both offline and online.
We work closely with outside agencies, follow Welsh Government guidance, and have clear procedures in place if any concerns arise.
If you ever have concerns about a child’s safety, please contact the school immediately. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility — together, we can help every child thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
We’re excited to confirm that this year’s Cardiff Bay Residential will take place for our Year 4 pupils. This one night adventure gives children the chance to explore some of the best activities and cultural experiences Wales has to offer, all in the heart of our capital city. If you have not yet signed up, please do so by next Friday. Consent forms and payment information are available on Parent Pay, where you’ll also find further details about the trip. During the visit, pupils will take part in a range of hands-on activities designed to develop independence, teamwork, and confidence. The visit includes:
• Visits to the Wales Millennium Centre and Senedd Cymru, giving pupils insight into Welsh culture and democracy.
• Interactive workshops and guided tours around Cardiff landmarks.
• Fun evening activities with friends to create lasting memories.
This residential is a fantastic stepping stone before our longer Llangrannog and Llain adventures in Year 5 and 6. It provides a balance of exciting challenges, cultural learning, and opportunities to build resilience in a safe and supportive environment.
If you are unable to see the link on Parent Pay, please bring £60 cash to Mrs Robinson in the office by next Friday.
We’re excited to announce that next year’s residential trip to Gwersyll yr Urdd Llangrannog will take place from Monday 15th June to Friday 19th June for our new Year 6 pupils. Please check Parent Pay for the consent and payment page, where you’ll find further details.
Our current Year 6 pupils had an incredible time at Llangrannog this year—taking part in thrilling activities like skiing, climbing, go-karting, and tobogganing, while enjoying discos, quizzes, and folk dancing in the evenings. The trip was filled with laughter, teamwork, and memories that will stay with them for years to come. It was a week of fun, friendship, and unforgettable experiences!
We’re proud to have established a strong partnership with Llangrannog, meaning our Year 6 pupils will visit every year for a four-night residential stay during the summer term. To support families in planning ahead, we are working on a long-term payment plan available from Year 3 onwards, making it easier for everyone to prepare for this exciting opportunity.
With comfortable en-suite accommodation, all meals provided (including dietary requirements catered for), and a packed schedule of adventure and fun, this trip continues to be a highlight of our school year. We can’t wait to do it all again next summer!
If you are unable to see the link on Parent Pay, please bring £50 cash to Mrs Robinson in the office by next Friday.

We are excited to share our school development priorities for 2025–2026. These priorities have been carefully chosen following rigorous planning and self-evaluation with our staff, learners, and governing body. Your feedback as parents and carers has also played a crucial role—helping us reflect on areas we may not always see ourselves. If you feel you can contribute to these priorities or support the school in any other way, we would love to hear from you.
Our four priorities for the year ahead are:
• Priority 1: Strengthening the use of Welsh in informal, everyday contexts by building staff confidence and encouraging consistent pupil use during playtimes, transitions, and pupil-led activities.
• Priority 2: Raising standards in mathematics by ensuring solid foundations in number fluency and developing pupils’ reasoning, problem-solving, and ability to apply skills across the curriculum.
• Priority 3: Supporting learners to clearly articulate their learning journey through purposeful teaching, reflection, and effective questioning.
• Priority 4: Continuing to design and embed a curriculum that is enquiry-driven, rooted in pupil interests, and shaped by real-world, meaningful learning experiences.
We’re really looking forward to another year of growth, curiosity and shared success, we'll keep you updated on our progress.
We’re delighted to announce that Bryn Beyond after-school clubs are back next week! These clubs give our pupils fantastic opportunities to explore new skills, try exciting activities, and spend quality time with friends outside the classroom.
Please check Parent Pay for all the details about the new clubs and how to book your child’s place. Spots fill quickly, so don’t miss out!
A heartfelt thank you goes to our incredible staff, who volunteer their own time—outside of their contractual hours—to provide these extra-curricular opportunities purely for the benefit of the children. Their passion and dedication make a huge difference, and we are so grateful for everything you do to make Bryn Beyond such a success.
Our After School Club with Miss Phillips and Miss Boyling will run from next week also.
