Welsh Bac / SKILLS CHALLENGE

Croeso / welcome to the Welsh bac / SKILLS CHALLENGE department

WHAT IS THE SKILLS CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE?

The Skills Challenge Certificate (SCC) is a qualification that will develop and assess your skills, attributes and behaviours. It sits along side your other qualifications, and you will see that a number of the skills you develop whilst studying the Skills Challenge Certificate will be used while you study your other subjects. They are transferable skills that you should develop and use to show that you can adapt to different circumstances and situations, when working individually or in a team. They are skills that you will need when you leave school to use in the work place, or if you go on to study at sixth form and then on to University.

HOW DOES THE SKILLS CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE FIT INTO THE WELSH BACC?

The KS4 National/Foundation Welsh Baccalaureate is awarded when you have passed the sec and the supporting qualifications shown in the wheel below.

what skills will i be assessed on?

 How?

The skills will be assessed through 2 main challenges (worth 25% each), as well as an Individual Project (worth 50%).

WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO FOR THE INDIVIDUAL PROJECT?

You will research into a topic of your choice, either linked with an area of personal interest or one that links to what you hope to do as part of your future education or career. A possible Individual Project title could be: How is my local community working towards meeting national recycling targets?

The Individual Project should be between 1000 and 2000 words in length. You should follow a clear structure for your Individual Project to ensure your success:
