Beth fydda i’n ei ddysgu?

Byddi di’n parhau i ddatblygu a meithrin creadigrwydd, hunanhyder a sgiliau cyfathrebu wrth berfformio, dyfeisio a chyfarwyddo. Bydd cyfle i archwilio ffurfiau, arddulliau a chyd-destunau drama a byddi di’n dysgu i gydweithio er mwyn datblygu syniadau, mynegi teimladau, arbrofi ag elfennau technegol a myfyrio ar dy berfformiadau dy hunan a pherfformiadau eraill. Drwy astudio Drama TGAU, byddi di’n dysgu rhagor am y pwnc a’i gyfraniad at sylwebaeth gymdeithasol a diwylliannol a byddi di’n dod i werthfawrogi bod drama’n cynnig cyfleoedd arwyddocaol ar gyfer mynegi hunaniaeth ddiwylliannol a phersonol.  

Sut fydda i’n dysgu?

Yn ystod blwyddyn 10 byddi di’n dysgu am amryw o arddulliau theatr ac yn cymhwyso'r rhain i waith perfformio fel unigolyn neu mewn grŵp. Mae 70% o’r cwrs yn waith ymarferol a 30% yn arholiad ysgrifenedig. Mae’r cwrs wedi ei rannu’n dair uned. Yn ystod uned 1 byddi di’n creu, datblygu a pherfformio darn o theatr gan werthuso dy waith dy hun. Yn ystod uned 2 byddi di’n perfformio darn o ddrama sydd wedi’i chyhoeddi ac yn ystod Uned 3 byddi di’n astudio testun gosod ac yn paratoi tuag at arholiad digidol ble byddi di’n dadansoddi drama a gwerthuso theatr byw. 

Oes angen offer arnaf fi?

Ni fydd angen offer arbennig, heblaw am ffowlder Lever Arch, pocedi plastig, dy unedau a dy chromebook. Bydd disgwyl i ti weld o leiaf 2 ddarn o theatr byw naill ai fel unigolyn neu ar daith sydd wedi ei threfnu gan yr ysgol. 

Sut fydda i’n cael fy asesu?

Uned 1: Dyfeisio Theatr a Gwerthusiad 40%

Uned 2: Perfformiad neu ddyluniad o Destun 30%

Uned 3: Arholiad ar-sgrin: 30% (120 munud)

Bydd modd i ti barhau i astudio Lefel A Drama (AS ac yna A2) os wyt ti’n dymuno.

What will I learn?

You will continue to develop and nurture creativity, self-confidence, communication and analytical skills as a performer, deviser, director and designer. You will investigate the forms, styles, and contexts of drama and will learn to work collaboratively to develop ideas, to express feelings, to experiment with technical elements and to reflect on your own and others’ performances. By studying GCSE Drama, you will learn more about the subject and its contribution to social and cultural commentary and will come to appreciate that drama provides significant opportunities for expressing cultural and personal identity. 

How will I learn?

During year 10 you will learn about different genres and performance styles and use the skills learnt to create a performance as an individual or as a member of a group. 70% of the course is practical with the remaining 30% consisting of a digital exam. The course is divided into 3 units of work. Unit 1 consists of a devised performance or design and an evaluation of your own work. In Unit 2 you will perform a published play text and during Unit 3 you will study a set text and prepare for an on screen exam where you will interpret and analyse the text and analyse and review a live performance. 

Do I need any equipment? 

You will not require any special equipment, apart from a Lever Arch file, polypockets, your units and Chromebook. You will be expected to go and see at least 2 live performances either as an individual or on an organised trip organised by the school.  

How will I be assessed?

Devised Performance and Evaluation 40%

Performing from Text and Evaluation 30%

On-screen Exam 30% (120 minutes)

What is the next step after this course?

You will be able to continue to study A Level Drama (AS and then A2) if you wish.

Anything that requires confident communicators: lawyer, teacher, politician, actor or a job on the technical side of theatre, writer, computer games writer, art advertising director, TV or film director, broadcast presenter, children's entertainer, costume designer , theater designer, theater administrator, stage manager, scriptwriter, broadcast researcher, YouTuber.
