Sut fydda i’n dysgu?
Mae 60% o’r cwrs yn asesiad di-arholiad sydd wedi’i asesu’n fewnol a’i safoni’n allanol ac mae 2 asesiad di-arholiad sef 20% ymchwiliad gwyddonol a 40% asesiad paratoi bwyd. Am weddill yr amser byddi di’n dysgu peth o’r theori ac yn cael llawer o gyfle i baratoi dy ryseitiau dy hun. Mae'r asesiadau di-arholiad yn rhoi cyfle i ti greu 3 saig o safon uchel. Yn y rhan yma o'r cwrs, bydd angen i ti gymhwyso sgiliau a gwybodaeth o feysydd eraill megis Gwyddoniaeth a Technoleg Gwybodaeth. Bydd disgyblion sy'n dewis Bwyd a Maeth yn siŵr o ddod o hyd i rywbeth sydd at ddant pawb!

Bydd offer arbenigol ar gael i bawb, ac ar ben hynny fe fyddi di angen dy Chromebook. Bydd angen bocs gyda caead ar gyfer cludo bwyd adref. Byddi di’n coginio tua unwaith bob wythnos a bydd angen i ti brynu cynhwysion ar gyfer hyn.

What will I learn?
The unit will be based on the following areas of content:
1.1 Food commodity groups
1.2 Nutrients for a balanced diet
1.3 Diet and Health
1.4 Cooking food
1.5 Food spoilage
1.6 From field to fork.
How will I learn?
60% of the course is a non-examination assessment which is internally assessed and externally moderated. For the rest of the time you will have ample opportunity to research, develop and prepare your own recipes. The non-examination assessments give you the opportunity to research and design new meals. In this part of the course you will need to apply skills and knowledge from other areas such as Science, Information Technology, Art and Mathematics. Pupils who choose Food and Nutrition will find there is something in the course to satisfy and stimulate every appetite!
Do I need any equipment?
Specialist equipment will be available to all, and in addition you will require your iPad and a set of design pencils. You will need pots or tins to be able to carry food home. You will cook approximately once a week and you will need to buy ingredients for this.

Unit 1: Principles of Food and Nutrition
Theory written paper examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
40% of qualification
Unit 2: Food Investigation
Non-examination assessment: 8 hours
20% of qualification
Unit 3: Food and Nutrition in Action
Non-examination assessment: 12 hours
40% of qualification
What is the next step after this course?
There are post-GCSE qualifications if you wish. We offer Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition in Year 12 and 13.

Food is a major employer in the UK - a highly competitive and challenging industry offering a wealth of employment opportunities. Such as in the hospitality industry, ·There is a UK shortage of qualified food scientists and technologists. This can lead to many careers in food product development, sports nutritionist, teaching, dietician, nursing and care, consumer research analyst, chef, and many more.
