We are continually working on our attendnace at school. Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 91.36% for the whole school.

Please see the attached chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 90.7% which is an improvement on last week, however, we must keep working together to achieve our target.

10 pupils from Year 5 and 6 were selected to go to this years swimming gala, held at Newport Veledrome. The pupils went against 18 other teams from schools all across Newport. The children participated in 8 different races all around the different principles in swimming and they did the school and themselves proud! In some of the races the boys and girls finished as high as 3rd place and what they showed throughout was fantastic determination and encouragment throughout showing the real Lliswerry spirit! One of our pupils joined in with a swimming demonstration with the club that helped organise and run the event and was a real joy to watch. 

2BL presented their class assembly last week and did an amazing job! Lots of children were worried about speaking in front of an audience but they all spoke with confidence and sang beautifully. We are very proud of them! A big thank you to all of the parents and carers that came along to support the children.  The children were very excited to see you there and share their lovely learning experiences with you. 

This week, we hosted our new Reception intake meeting and warmly welcomed our prospective parents that have children starting at Lliswerry in September 2026. It was a wonderful opportunity to share key information about our school community. We hope you enjoyed the tour of the newly developed learning environments and were able to catch a glimpse of the inspiring learning that happens here at Lliswerry! 

We look forward to the new Reception children joiining us on Monday 29th June for their 'Stay and Play'!

At our school, promoting health and wellbeing is an important part of our whole-school approach, helping every child to thrive both in and out of the classroom. We encourage families to support this by providing healthy snacks, nutritious lunchboxes and a refillable water bottle each day. Making positive choices around food and hydration helps children to stay focused, energised and ready to learn, while also developing healthy habits that will benefit them for years to come.
