Pasg Hapus Happy Easter
Message from the Interim Headteacher
It has been a very busy but wonderfully positive Spring term. The children have worked exceptionally hard, showing great determination and achieving some fantastic things along the way. As we break up for the Easter holidays, we would like to wish all of our Lliswerry families a very happy and restful Easter. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 13th April for the start of the Summer term.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Pasg hapus!
Mrs Pegington
Head and Deputy Girls and Boys
Hello, welcome to our newsletter! Over the past week we have all been busy finishing off our current topics in readiness for summer term. We have recently produced podcasts debating whether AI could replicate the work humans at NASA do and everybody’s podcasts turned out amazing, we loved listening to all of them! We both think that because humans programme AI and helped to create it, that AI can’t actually replace people at NASA.
Going into Summer Term in Year 6 means that we can finally start auditioning and practising our end of year show! The whole of year six are so excited about it. We are hoping that when you get to watch it in July that you will all love it! We hope you all have a lovely Easter break! Thank you for reading.
Please continue to check the Lliswerry Voice for important information and dates for the diary. Please be aware all dates are subject to change.

Today, the FOL tombola took place on the front yard. This was a huge success which has helped to raise funds for our school. Thank you for your continued support with all events.
Also, thank you for the entries for the colouring competiton. The winners were annnouned this morning and all winners have recieved an Easter egg and certificate.
Over the past few weeks, the wet areas outside our Year 3,4,5 and 6 classrooms have begun to be transformed into calm spaces that will support children's wellbeing and help to ensure they are ready to learn. Over the Easter holidays the new flooring is being fitted and sofas will be added to provide the children with a safe place to relax and regulate.
We have recently reviewed how the children's achievements are celebrated and have a variety of ways in which we do this at Lliswerry Primary School.
Celebration Assembly - Certificates are rewarded to one child in each class every week for their behaviour, effort, learning journey
‘Hot chocolate Friday’ with Mrs Pegington - One child from each class is chosen weekly for going ‘Above and Beyond’
Presentation Parade - one child per class is chosen to share their learning during Celebration Assembly on a Friday
Positive verbal praise with a smile - positive words shared with children ‘in the moment’
Teacher stickers - used for immediate praise/reward
Praise and reward with Senior Leaders and other staff to ‘show off’ learning
Class Recognition Boards - A whole class based reward system resulting in a small reward being given.
After the Easter break we are beginning one further way of celebrating positive achievements with parents. Keep on eye on your post box!

PACT Sessions (Parent and Children Together)
Thank you so much for attending our Year 4 PACT session. It was great to see so many of you there and we really hope it helped you gain a better understanding of how maths is taught in Lliswerry. We loved seeing you all engaging positively with the games and ideas and hope you feel confident to take these away to try at home.
Year 1 loved sharing their learning with their grown ups during our PACT session. We loved having so many of you there. The children enjoyed sharing the games with you all and it was great to see so many parents join in with snakes and ladders so competitively!
Thank you to all of the parents who attended the Year 5 PACT session on Tuesday. It was so lovely to see so many of you attend and get to share learning with your children. As suggested, we will ensure that we provide biscuits next time!
