Cwrt Henri, Ffairfach and Talley Federation Coding Project
Micro:bit Coding Project – Creating a Pedometer and counting steps
This project will be carried out across the three schools. The Micro:bits will be used in Talley School first of all, then in Ffairfach, and finally in Cwrt Henri.
The project is for Key Stage 2. Years 3 and 4 will be able to complete the First part (TC). An extension will be needed for years 5 and 6.
We will be combining learning about the body by staging a Pedometer Challenge within the class, and coding through learning to create a pedometer.

The aim was to motivate the children by staging a Pedometer Challenge every day.
The children attempt to take a certain number of steps every day for a week. After counting the steps/km for the week, we try to beat that score the following week. The week’s score is recorded in Microsoft Excel.
We are combining healthy living with coding.
