At MHCPS we are relatively new to coding so we are currently focusing on developing our use of micro:bits throughout the school. This is an example of one of the ways we have used them in Upper KS2 so far.
After block coding the number random generators (numbers between 11-99) the children then uploaded them onto the micro:bit. They then used these to give them two 2-digit numbers to create long multiplication sums. This real world application of the coding provided children with great engagement throughout the sessions.
The learning opportunities through this activity alone are endless. The class had an abundance of ideas on how it could be used in other classes throughout the school as well. They even incorporated it into their end of term bingo by coding the micro:bit to generator the numbers!
