Knowing your pace count is a basic orienteering skill. You can use the scale on the map to calculate how far you need to go. Then you can use your pacing to measure that distance. Firstly, measure 10m on the ground. Then count how many double paces you take to travel the 10m. Double pacing is where you only count every time your right foot (or left) hits the ground. I take 6 double paces, when running, every 10m. So one double pace is roughly 1.7m. This number then can be used in your coding to work out how far you have travelled. Click here for a video on double pacing.
