Beth fydda i’n ei ddysgu?

Byddi di’n gwella dy ddealltwriaeth o gyfrifiadureg ac yn dysgu sut i gymhwyso egwyddorion a chysyniadau sylfaenol cyfrifiadureg, gan gynnwys haniaethu, dadelfennu, rhesymeg, algorithmau a chynrychioli data. Byddi di hefyd yn datblygu dy allu i ddadansoddi problemau yn nhermau cyfrifiannu drwy brofiad ymarferol o ddatrys problemau o'r fath, gan gynnwys ysgrifennu rhaglenni i wneud hynny. Bydd cyfle i ddysgu sut i feddwl yn greadigol, arloesol, dadansoddol, rhesymegol ac yn feirniadol. Byddi di’n dysgu gweld perthnasoedd rhwng agweddau gwahanol ar gyfrifiadureg a sgiliau mathemategol. Byddi di’n datblygu’r gallu i fynegi cyfleoedd diwylliannol a chyfreithiol unigol (moesol), cymdeithasol (moesegol), a risgiau technoleg ddigidol.

Sut fydda i’n dysgu?

Byddi di’n dysgu drwy wersi tiwtorial a phrosiectau rhaglennu yn y dosbarth, fydd wedyn yn cael eu datblygu a’u hymarfer y tu hwnt i’r dosbarth. Bydd gwersi theori yn cael eu haddysgu o fewn y dosbarth, gyda fideos ychwanegol yn cael eu hawgrymu i'w gwylio er mwyn cadarnhau’r dysgu.

Oes angen offer arnaf fi?

Bydd yn fanteisiol iawn i gael mynediad i gyfrifiadur personol yn y cartref sydd yn caniatáu rhaglennu o fewn naill Python, Visual Basic neu Java.

Sut fydda i’n cael fy asesu?

Blwyddyn 12 (40%)

Uned 1 – Hanfodion Cyfrifiadureg, Arholiad Ysgrifenedig – 2 Awr (25%)

Uned 2 – Rhaglennu Ymarferol i Ddatrys Problemau, Arholiad ar sgrîn – 2 awr (15%)

Blwyddyn 13 (60%)

Uned 3 – Rhaglennu a Datblygu Systemau, Arholiad Ysgrifenedig – 2 awr (20%)

Uned 4 – Saernïaeth Gyfrifiadurol, Data, Cyfathrebu a Rhaglenni, Arholiad ysgrifenedig –

2 awr (20%)

Uned 5 – Rhaglennu Datrysiad i Broblem, Asesiad di-arholiad (20%)

 Beth yw’r cam nesaf ar ôl y cwrs hwn?

Bydd disgyblion yn ddatblygu sylfaen gref ym maes Cyfrifiadureg. O ganlyniad, bydd nifer o gyfleoedd ar gael i astudio Cyfrifiadureg yn y brifysgol, yn ogystal â phynciau cysylltiedig amrywiol, megis: Deallusrwydd Artiffisial; Peirianneg Cyfrifiadurol; Mathemateg / Ffiseg; Rhwydweithio Cyfrifiadurol; Gwarchodaeth Cyfrifiadurol. Bydd datblygu y gallu i raglennu hefyd yn rhoi cyfleoedd i unigolion i weithio’n annibynnol, megis datblygu gwefannau neu apiau.

Gyda datblygiad a thyfiant parhaol yn y defnydd technoleg o fewn bywyd pob dydd, bydd Cyfrifiadureg yn debygol o ddarparu ystod eang o swyddi yn y dyfodol. Ar hyn o bryd, mae’r swyddi canlynol yn gwerthfawrogi cefndir academaidd Cyfrifiadureg: Datblygwr Systemau, Dyluniwr Gwefannau, Datblygwr Gwefannau, Dadansoddwr Busnes, Dadansoddwr Data, Datblygwr Gemau, Peiriannydd Rhwydwaith.

What will I learn?

You will develop an understanding of computing and the ability to apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation. You will also develop the ability to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including writing programs to do so. You will aim to acquire the capacity for thinking creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically. You will learn to see relationships between different aspects of computer science and mathematical skills. You will also develop the ability to articulate the individual (moral), social (ethical), legal and cultural opportunities and risks of digital technology.

How will I learn?

You will learn through class-based programming tutorials and projects, which can then be developed and practised further outside the classroom. Class-based theory lessons will be taught, along with additional recommended videos to help you consolidate your learning out of school.  

Do I need any equipment?

It would be highly beneficial to have access to a personal computer which allows programming in either Python, Visual Basic or Java at home.

How will I be assessed?

Year 12 (40%)

Unit 1 – Written examination – 2 hours (25%)

Unit 2 – On-screen examination practical programming to solve problems – 2 hours (15%)

Year 13 (60%)

Unit 3 – Theory written examination – 2 hours (20%)

Unit 4 – Theory written examination – 2 hours (20%)

Unit 5 – In-class programming project to program a solution to a problem – no time limit (20%)

 What is the next step after this course?

Pupils will gain a solid foundation in Computer Science. This would open up opportunities to study Computer Science further at university, along with a variety of related degrees such as Artificial Intelligence; Computer Engineering; Maths / Physics; Computer Networking; Computer Security. Developing the ability to program also opens opportunities for individuals to work independently, such as becoming an independent web or application developer.

With the constant growth of technology and its integration with everyday life, Computer Science is likely to provide a wide variety of jobs in the future. Some current jobs associated with a background in Computer Science are: System Developer, Web Designer, Web Developer, System/Business Analyst, IT Consultant, Data Analyst, Games Developer, Network Engineer.
