Beth fydda i’n ei ddysgu?

Byddi di’n ehangu ac yn dwysáu dy wybodaeth bynciol megis yr atom, cyfrifiadau, cyfradd adwaith, cemeg organig a thechnegau dadansoddi fel cromatograffi, ynghyd â dysgu am agweddau newydd megis ecwilibriwm, sbectra atomig, thermocemeg a cineteg. Byddi di’n cwblhau arbrofion ymarferol yn gyson er mwyn cefnogi dy ddysgu ffeithiol. Mae Cemeg yn bwnc sy’n cael ei ystyried yn hynod ffafriol wrth ymgeisio i’r brifysgol pa bynnag bwnc y byddi di’n astudio, gan ei fod yn arddangos gallu mewn nifer o sgiliau gwahanol megis cyfrifo, dadansoddi a datrys problemau.

Byddi di’n dysgu un thema ar y tro mewn uned.

Ni fydd angen offer arbennig, heblaw am yr adnoddau a ddarperir gan yr adran.

Bl 12: Arholiad Uned 1 20%                                    Bl 13: Arholiad Uned 3 25%

Bl 12: Arholiad Uned 2 20%                                    Bl 13: Arholiad Uned 4 25%

Beth yw’r cam nesaf ar ôl y cwrs hwn?

Bydd modd i ti barhau i astudio cemeg yn y brifysgol, a bydd hyn yn rhoi’r cyfle i ti gael sylfaen gadarn ar gyfer dilyn trywydd mewn nifer o feysydd gwyddonol ynghyd â chyrsiau fel Meddygaeth a Deintyddiaeth. Bydd hefyd yn rhoi sylfaen wych o ran sgiliau trosglwyddadwy ar gyfer cyrsiau nad sy’n wyddonol.

Mae Cemeg yn rhan annatod o’n bywydau ac mae nifer fawr o swyddi a gyrfaoedd ar gael ar gyfer pobl sydd wedi astudio Cemeg ar unrhyw lefel. Gyda datblygiadau technolegol a gwyddonol yn digwydd bob dydd, mae siawns y byddi di’n gwneud swydd nad yw wedi ei darganfod eto er mwyn datrys sialensau byd-eang megis iechyd, egni a’r amgylchedd.

What will I learn?

You will expand your current subject knowledge such as the atom, calculations, reaction rates, organic chemistry and analytical techniques such as chromatography, as well as learn about new topics such as equilibrium, atomic spectra, thermochemistry and kinetics. You will complete regular practical experiments in order to support your theoretical learning. Chemistry is a very well respected A-Level and students who attain a good grade are favourably looked upon as it shows their ability in a range of skills such as problem solving, numeracy, communication, creativity and data analysis.

How will I learn?

You will study one topic at a time in a work unit.

Do I need any equipment?

You will not require any special equipment, apart from departmental resources. 

How will I be assessed?

Year 12: Unit 1 Examination 20%               Year 13: Unit 3 Examination 25%

Year 12: Unit 2 Examination 20%               Year 13: Unit 4 Examination 25%

                                                                             Year 13: Unit 5 Practical Examination 10%


What is the next step after this course?

You can continue to study chemistry at university, which will give you a sound foundation to enter numerous scientific fields as well as vocational courses such as Medicine and Dentistry. It will also stand you in good stead even if you choose to follow a non-science based university course due to the transferable skills you will learn.
