Hi my name is Jessica Melendrez Coursey and I am the new Art Teacher at HES. I feel super blessed to be a part of such an amazing Specials Team and such a wonderful school. I graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelors Degree in Art Communications. While going to school I worked for the Yellow Jacket Newspaper as a photographer for 3 years and had the distinct privilege of covering the NCAA Championship for my campus. I continued my education through iteachTEXAS and received my teacher certification in PE in 2012. In 2016, I also received my certifications in Art and Generalist EC-6. I have worked in the school system since 2008 and have always wanted to be a Teacher. I feel super honored to be given the opportunity at HES to live my dream.

"Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate."

This is my 15th year in education. I graduated from UT Austin with my Bachelors in Education and I earned my Masters from Sam Houston State University. I reside in Pflugerville with my husband and two children. My hobbies include reading and yoga. My passion in life is inspiring the love of reading. Being a librarian is my dream job!

I have been in Texas 11 years. Born and raised in the suburbs of North West of Chicago. Married with 2 daughters that are 13 and 9. Both attend Hutto ISD schools. My favorite sport is Hockey, Texas Stars for the AHL and Chicago Blackhawks NHL I am also my daughters biggest fans, as they play club Volleyball for Max Performance. Love to travel when we can and we are always up for a new adventure. The HES library has been my home for the last 5 years with many more to come.

I was born in Houston and went to Cy-Fair High School. I went to Blinn College in Brenham, TX, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. I'm a big fan of the Houston Texans and Houston Astros. Houston sports brings such wonderful memories to me and my family. It was so important to them that my first name is actually after Craig Reynolds, an Astros baseball player. I have two celebrity heroes: JJ Watt, and Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson. They may be my heroes, but my two biggest loves are Mrs. Reinecke and my baby Ashlynn.

I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in the summer of 1998. My first and only Teaching job started at Hutto Elementary in the fall of 1998. I love what I do, do what I love. Being around children and sports is my dream job. I have two daughters and two sons who I am very proud of and love very much. I love to read, watch movies, and play almost any sport or game.

I was born and raised in Iowa. (GO HAWKEYES!) My husband and I have been married for 17 years. We have lived all over the country. We were in South Florida for 8 years and then to Missouri for 2 years. Then off to Utah for 10 years. We have been in Texas since 2016 where I subbed for 2 years before I became part of the HES family as the PE Aide. We have 2 wonderful sons both of which attend Hutto Schools. We also have 5 dogs that keep us very busy.
