How many times have you asked your child, "What did you do at school today" or, "Do you have any homework tonight"? More than you can count I'm sure. Now, how often did you end up getting responses like, "nothing" or "I don't know"? Probably equally as many!
The Daily Overview is here to help! Each sixth grade student will be a member of the Daily Overview Google Classroom page where they are able to see daily activities and assignments for every subject!. The Daily Overview is not only a place for students to find assigned homework, teachers also provide a short description of each lesson and additional links and resources to the page as well.
Students will be asked to use their resources when it comes to keeping track of their homework assignments. The Daily Overview is the best resource to find assigned homework and potential resources from the lesson that day.
Our biggest piece of advice for parents on homework is to trust, but verify. Trust that your student is getting their work done but then work as a team to verify with the Daily Overview that the correct assignment is done.
Whenever a student is absent, the Daily overview page is the FIRST place teachers will send students or parents looking for missing work. It is our expectation that students will check the Daily Overview when they are absent and attempt (if possible) to complete any activity or assignment that was missed that day.* This way, when the student returns back to school they are able to jump right back in with the rest of the class!
* Teachers are available to help answer questions via email!
We love hearing about students conversing with their family about what took place in the classroom. The Daily Overview can be a great place for you to find topics of conversation to have with your student about their school day.
"I see you started a project in Social Studies, what is the project about?"
"I noticed you have a test in Math on Friday, would you like me to give you some practice problems to help you study?"
