Welcome Students!

Advanced Placement Literature and Composition is a year long class that is designed to prepare students for college and the AP Exam in May. Throughout the year we will read a variety of literature in the genres of short fiction, drama, poetry, and long fiction. First trimester focuses heavily on short fiction as well as 2-3 novels and/or plays. Second trimester the focus is on poetry in addition to 2-3 novels or plays. During the third trimester we will finish a year long author research project where you will write a research paper based upon a thesis you have developed after reading multiple works by your author as well as scholarly criticism from various fields of literary theory. Finally, the course will include opportunities for test practice and the development of skills needed for completing the multiple choice and essay portions of the AP Exam.
