Missing Work

At first grade, I am teaching the students that they need to be responsible for their own work. I will send your child's missing assignment names with Monday folders. I have 2-3 copies at the bottom of my mailboxes. If they need a new copy, they will be responsible to find the extra to redo. Some assignments will be from their books, so there will be no extra copies.

Morning Routines

When student come in they are expected to follow the following procedures:

*unpack everything that is needed for the day

*turn in any work or teacher notes along with their folder

*get started right away on morning work tubs

*when the timer goes off, clean up all materials

*attendance

*participate in calendar time

Homework

*Reading is the best way for students to excel academically therefore you should be reading every night for at least 20 minutes. This is a great night time routine, reading together before bed.

*Check your child's folder each night and review any work that your child did not do well on.

*Your child will have a personalized IXL sheet in their homework folder. 60 minutes a week of practice is recommended.

*Daily homework is sent home in first grade, it is expected to be returned the next day. I do provide time in class to complete the work, but I am working with the students on taking things home and bringing them back responsibly.
