Study guides will be provided for SOME tests but not all. All material covered on a test is learned in class. This is why attendance and participation is so important. If your child is actively attentive in class, he/she will do fine on subject area tests.
When student come in they are expected to follow the following procedures:
*unpack everything that is needed for the day
*turn in any work or teacher notes
*get started right away on morning work
*when the timer goes off, clean up all materials
*attendance
*participate in calendar time
*Reading is the best way for students to excel academically therefore you should be reading every night for at least 20 minutes. This is a great night time routine, reading together before bed.
*Check your child's folder each night.
*Daily phonics and math homework is sent home in first grade, it is expected to be returned the next day.
*Spelling packet homework is sent home on Friday and is due the following Friday.
*Classwork may be sent home to be finished if your child did not complete it. There will be ample time to complete daily tasks. If your child has incomplete work coming home, it is probably because of inattentiveness.
In order to function in an effective classroom atmosphere, it is essential to have a good discipline plan. I have designed a plan for use in our classroom.
Our classroom/school rules are as follows:
THE HUSKY HABITS
Be Repectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Be Excellent
I will be using Class Dojo to keep you informed of your child's progress. Once your child receives 20 Dojo points he/she will get to pick a prize from the treasure box!
Disruptive and/or challenging behavior will result in loss of privileges, including snack or recess minutes, or “time out”. a note may be sent home.
Defiant behavior will result in loss of privileges including snack and recess for the day., "time out". In severe cases a referral to the principal/assistant principal and a parent will be called. In school or home suspension may be mandatory in severe situations.
