When I was first walked in to Huntsville High School, I was so nervous. The school was too big, the people were too different and I was too lost.
I knew nothing about the school or the people attending it.
The first thing that came to mind when I walked into the building was friends. Being familiar with a person in a new environment is essential. Friends can help you find your way to new classes, inform you about school events such as pep rallies and dances, and even help you find a seat at lunch with them.
Compared to my old school, the people here are different. Whether it's their sense of humor or the way they express themselves, they are different. Sometimes that's a positive.
Adapting to new surroundings and learning how others act can be beneficial.
Now that I’m a couple of weeks in to my stay at HHS, I’m getting used to my classes, the school, and so on. Along the way, I’ve made some friends and even secured a spot at lunch, just as I had hoped.
I remember a while back, I made some plans for Halloween. Originally, I was going to spend Halloween inside watching movies and eating store-bought candy.
Now that I’ve made a couple of friends, those plans have definitely changed for the better.
