Huntsville High School is home to many influential students, teachers and administrators, including Assistant Principal Robert Wilson.
Dr. Wilson has served at Huntsville High School for four years, making a lasting difference in the lives of students throughout the school.
Many educators and instructors are driven by a strong sense of purpose — something that motivates them to shape the minds of adolescent students.
“This job is important because we, as educators, have the responsibility and opportunity to help students achieve their very best and to guide them to post secondary success, whether that be college, the military or the workforce,” Wilson told the Hive.
In addition to positively impacting young Hornets, Dr. Wilson also influences his colleagues. HHS administrative assistant Brittney Johnson shared high praise when asked what it is like working with Wilson.
“You feel like you’re a part of a team,” Johnson said. “He’s a great leader. ... He makes you feel seen.”
Johnson wasn’t the only one who is singing high praises for Dr. Wilson.
“He’s always positive, knowledgeable and he brings a lot of experience to the table,” Assistant Principal Lisa Black told the Hive.
In addition to his professionalism, Dr. Wilson is known among his peers as something of a “funny guy.” Todd Nall, a counselor at HHS, shared an amusing story with interviewers involving a co-worker and her greatest fear.
“Mrs. Stringer hates mice,” Mr. Nall explained.
When asked about the incident herself, Marsha Stringer, a fellow Hornet counselor, confirmed this fact and recounted the experience:
“One morning I came into school and unlocked my office door. As I opened it, a little mouse moved and made a squeaking noise. Dr. Wilson had tied it to my door, so when I opened it, the mouse moved and looked real. It scared me to death.
"I threw my backpack on the floor and screamed. I do not like mice — even little ones.”
Mrs. Stringer recalled that the prank took place last year. While the incident was certainly startling at the time, she admitted that in hindsight, the practical joke was amusing.
Beyond his sense of humor, many staff members describe Dr. Wilson as a supportive and approachable leader. Juan Torres, a new assistant principal, shared, “He doesn’t mind helping me out as a new assistant principal.”
Nathan Flores, a senior and office aide, spoke about his long-standing connection with Dr. Wilson, saying, “We go way back. He’s one of the best APs.”
Physics teacher Kimberly Theisen expressed similar appreciation, saying, “I love Dr. Wilson. You can always talk to him. He’s not judgy and I feel comfortable with him.”
Alaynah Veasey, a senior office aide, added, “He’s interesting and really sociable. He’s easy to talk to and always interacts with people.”
Through his leadership, humor and dedication to students and staff, Dr. Wilson has made a lasting impact on Huntsville High School.
Whether he is guiding students toward postsecondary success or supporting colleagues in their daily work, he continues to help create a positive and welcoming environment for the Hornet community.
Dr. Wilson’s influence can also be seen in the overall culture of Huntsville High School. By fostering an atmosphere built on trust, respect and collaboration, he helps ensure that both students and staff feel supported.
Wilson's ability to balance professionalism with approachability allows him to connect with individuals from all backgrounds, strengthening relationships throughout the school.
Students benefit not only from Dr. Wilson’s guidance, but also from the example he sets as a leader. His encouragement motivates students to stay focused on their goals and believe in their potential for success beyond high school.
Whether interacting with students in the hallway or assisting them in the office, he consistently demonstrates care and commitment.
As Huntsville High continues to grow and evolve, Dr. Wilson remains a key figure in shaping the school's future. His dedication to education, positive attitude and genuine concern for others make him an invaluable member of the Hornet community.
The impact of his work will continue to be felt by students and staff for years to come.
