Jubilee Celebration Day

At The Hundred of Hoo Primary Academy, we have celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style! Each of the year groups across the school were invited to come into school on Friday 27th May in attire from each of the decades the Queen has been on the throne. From Danny and Sandy from Grease in year R to the Spice Girls in Year 6, the children and staff very much got into the celebratory spirit! Each of the classes focussed on activities about the Queen, their chosen decade or countries from the Commonwealth. We would very much like to thank all of the parents and carers who came into school to join in with activities from learning a new 70's dance routine and making predictions about the future to being involved in a Millenium New Year’s party. It was great to see so many of you in school and sharing in what we do!

Over the course of the week, Cucina created a special ‘Best of British’ menu which celebrated each of the Home Nations, culminating in a whole-school tea-party style lunch.

In keeping with tradition, each class had a competition to design a new ‘Platinum Pud’ for the Queen with the winning design from each class turned into a real-life cake by our marvellous unit manager, Nicki Sammon. The children absolutely loved seeing their designs converted from paper to flour and icing, but I think they enjoyed eating their creations even more.

Last but not least, our fantastic PTA brought all of the pupils in the school a special commemorative pin-badge to mark the occasion; it is fair to say that this is an event our community won’t forget for some time!

Term 6

Term 6 is always a very busy one at school and this year is going to be no different! We have our first ever residential visit for year 6 taking place from the 15th -17th June, the Year 4 Multiplication Check, Year 1 Phonics Check, Sports Day on Friday 8th July and the Summer Fayre on Saturday 9th July.

As well as these events, there are lots of exciting activities and learning planned over the course of term 6 for every class with some very thought-provoking Central Ideas which I am sure your children will be talking to you about.

Transition days, where your child will meet their new class teacher, will take place on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th July.
