Message from Mr Etheridge - Primary Principal

End of Term 4

It is almost unbelievable that we have finished Term 4 and are entering the Easter holidays; it almost feels like yesterday that we were at the start of the academic year!

Despite Covid restrictions ending, this term has seen possibly the most impact in terms of staff and pupil absences due to Covid as well as other illnesses. Even with this level of absence, the learning which has taken place across the whole school (which you can see in the other pages in the bulletin) has been truly excellent. Exciting visitors such as Animal Encounters and superhero readers, as well as events such as STEM week and World Book Day just add to the fantastic day-to-day offer all of our pupils receive.

Terms 5 and 6 bring many more exciting events including Sports Day, the whole-school trip to the Lion King theatre show and the Queen's platinum jubilee celebrations.

Alongside this, we also have the Key Stage 1 and 2 SATs, phonics screening and year 4 multiplication check whick I know you will be keen to support your children in. Teachers will be (or already have!) shared material on Google Classroom to help you support your children at home.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your continued support in helping to make our school and its community the incredible place it is for our pupils, staff and families.

Staffing Update

You may be aware that since the start of October, Miss Corthine, has been working with us in year R as part of the Kickstart Programme. This was always due to be a fixed-term contract of six months and sadly this has now come to an end. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Corthine for all of her hard work over and I know she will be hugely missed by the pupils and the whole of the staff team.

Also, Miss Green who has been on her alternative placement as part of the KMT teacher training programme finished her placement with us at the end of term four and returns back to her home placement school. I know she made lots of meaningful relationships with the children in Berners-Lee class and has learnt a lot this term.

Finally, we welcome back Miss Stevens and Miss Chamberlain from their own alternative placements at the start of term five to complete their teacher training with us at Hundred of Hoo Academy. I know that the staff and children will very much welcome their return!

Celebrations

We are very proud of our very own Amy Baker who has qualified for the final of the SPRING FESTIVAL SHOW JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022.

She has qualified for the THE PONY CLUB CHALLENGE CLASS at arena UK on Sunday 10 April where she will represent West Kent Meopham Branch.

She will be ride Emma's Star (Nina) a 13yr old 16.1 bay mare.

We wish Amy the very best of luck at this exciting event!
