Why Study The Mystical Energy?
First reason:
The mystical energy has inspired certain individuals
to produce sayings or writings interpreted as Truth
given to humanity directly by God. However these
teachings differ. This causes many people to wonder
which Teacher was or is the true Messiah. In fact
there are different men living today, each of whom
thousands believe to be The Messiah. The science of
The Messiah is the science of the mystical energy.
The mystical energy enabled the Bab, who was the
Originator of the Bah' Faith, to compose
voluminously. Only a few of His countrymen believed
these works to be divinely inspired.(1) Certain ideas
and statements He expressed greatly upset the
followers of Mohammed and so the Bab was persecuted.
But after His death the Bab's memory endured and so
did His writings, and the Bab's follower Bah'u'llh
became greatly inspired to produce more writings and
more sayings. Bah'u'llh won many followers.(2) A
third man, Abdulbaha, added even more energy to the
Bah' movement. Throughout the world today there
are many millions of Bah's.
Because there's no clear understanding of this topic,
many people dismiss religion as mere folklore and
superstition. Later a person may himself feel this
mystical energy and even come to believe that HE is
The Messiah! This happens to thousands of naive
persons each month. It's called an acute
schizophrenic episode. Lacking mastery of the
mystical energy, the sensitized person is soon
devastated by it.
By understanding the mystical energy, doctors will
treat chronically mentally ill people more
effectively. Moreover, people who aren't doctors may
be better prepared to avoid suffering the negative
effects of a schizophrenic breakdown. This is one
reason why people need to study the mystical energy.
Second reason:
In the past, different social groups have gone to war
to impose their religion on other social groups and/or
to reclaim what is considered Holy Ground. The
Christian crusades are well documented. Modern holy
wars are taking place in the Middle East. And in the
United States of America, religious intolerance has
driven groups of people out of a certain area. For
example, the Mormons were driven out of Illinois to
the Salt Lake area of Utah.
Leaders in the Bah' religion promote tolerance and
the harmonious integration of science with
religion.(3) Even so, more religions have started
since the Bah' religion began. For example, the
Theosophists promoted Jiddu Krishnamurti as The
Messiah. An organization was started which
Krishnamurti formally disbanded in 1923. Since then
other religions or cults have been founded by people
who fervently believe their leader is The Messiah.
For example, Meher Baba, Reverend Moon, and Da Free
John all have been promoted as The Messiah.
Since 1979 Benjamin Crme has been promoting yet
another person as The Messiah. This process of
creating alternative Messiahs is fragmenting society
more and more. Understanding the mystical energy will
resolve the conflicts and help unify humanity. This
is another reason why people need to study the
mystical energy.
Third reason:
A third reason for studying the mystical energy is to
define the mystical energy in terms of the other
energies known to science. One question is this:
What energy does a spiritual master project so that
people respond in a predictable way to sustained eye
contact with the spiritual master?
Medicine and other technology has brought greater ease
and comfort to people by using the new knowledge
gleaned by science. By understanding the mystical
energy which has affected a few exceedingly
influential persons, the mental and physical health of
many more future persons will be enhanced..
Mystical revelations may be the product of a very
active imagination.
Mystical revelations are often perceived to be
revelations or messages received directly from God.
This was the case when Mohammed composed the Koran.
However W. Montgomery Watt, who is recognized as an
authority on Mohammed says, "Perhaps it could be
maintained that these ideas of the creative
imagination come from that life in a man which is
greater than himself and is largely below the
threshold of consciousness".(4)
When a person first senses the mystical energy it
affects his perceptions, his thoughts, and his
behavior. The affected person doesn't know what this
process is and he doesn't know how to master the
process and integrate it in with his prior thoughts,
feelings, and behaviors. Direct perception of the
mystical energy is new to him. People don't
understand this subject, and they think of the
affected person as insane. The affected person is
treated by medical doctors who use physical or
chemical methods to nullify the sense of the mystical
energy. But nullification of a process isn't the way
for scientists to study it!
Often the mystical energy is shared by a guru or
spiritual master by means of sustained eye contact
which isn't accompanied by body movement, by speech,
or by conscious thinking, planning, visualization, or
wordiness. The master uses gazing to share with a
disciple this sense of the mystical energy which each
spiritual master cultivates.
Brief Descriptions: Sensation of The Mystical Energy:
What does it feel like and what do you see when you
gaze into the eyes of a person who is a recognized
spiritual master? Here are four reports:
1. Quote from a devotee of the spiritual teacher
Gangaji:
"Two weeks ago I didn't know what satsang or Gangaji
was. But when I saw your tape and I looked into your
eyes, the longing was fulfilled. I didn't see form, I
saw my heart."(5)
2. The writings of saints and mystics describe what
it is like to experience The Divine Unity. Consider
Austin Rust's experience in the presence of Benjamin
Creme:
"I was transfixed in eye to eye contact with Him. Then
I had the experience that He was in me and outside of
me simultaneously. I experienced Him within myself at
the very center of my Being. I then realized that He
was the one Whom I served. I was His servant and would
help pave the way for His reappearance to the best of
my limited ability."
Benjamin Crme continues:
"In retrospect, I realize that my experience of the
Christ in Dallas fits Jung's theory of the Self
Archetype. I became conscious of the Self at the
center of my being through my encounter with Benjamin
Crme being overshadowed by Maitreya and entered into
a relationship with that Self. The Self, the Christ
Maitreya, became for me a subjective reality at the
center of my psyche. The Christ is, for me, a real
Person with Whom I have had eye to eye contact."(6)
3. Quote in a recent letter from Phil Servedio who
has studied under several spiritual masters:
When asked in an e-mail, "In your article "Breaking
the Hymen Of The Heart" you
describe "Gazing with Lawrence was really a meeting in
being, heart to heart and wonderfully opening for me."
Would you explain what you mean by "gazing with"?
Were you gazing at the same scene together or were you
gazing at each other?"
Phil Servedio answered:
"John, We were gazing into each others eyes. This is a
common form of
initiation and transmission in various schools, eyes
being the 'window to the soul', so to speak, and more.
Gazing is very powerful and moving stuff."(7)
4. Quote from Molly Jones, a devotee of Adi Da
formerly Da Free John and Franklin Jones:
"It was as though someone had turned on 10,000 lights.
The actual physical light in the tent had not
changed, but the vibratory level of energy went way,
way up, and it was visible as a form of light
emanating from Avatara Adi Da's body..... Everyone was
singing and gazing at Avatara Adi Da. He looked
fiercely around the room, resting his Gaze on
different people as He slowly moved His head. I felt
His Love absolutely, without qualification."(8)
