Art with Mrs. Park

Welcome to Ellsworth Hill's artists corner!

My name is Daisy Park and I teach first and second grade art. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Art Education from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and subsequently obtained my Master's degree from Kent State University. The topic of my Master's degree thesis was on art education for students with severe to profound disabilities. I been an art teacher since 2005, teaching at Hattie Larlham (Mantua), Copley-Fairlawn Schools District and Hudson City Schools District.

I started teaching at Evamere in 2010 and Ellsworth in 2015. In my classroom, I like to introduce students to various artists (Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent van Gogh, Alma Thomas, Jim Dine, Georgia O'Keeffe, Claes Oldenburg, Grandma Moses, Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol and others) so that the students can be inspired and learn about each artist's unique style. We try to explore many different types of art materials such as paints (wet tempera, fluorescent, metallic, water color, acrylic and tempera cake), chalk and oil pastels, texture plates, clay and more. Rather than simple craft-like art projects, I like to integrate several art techniques to create a sophisticated finished work of art. For example, the fish project involved rubbing texture, painting a background, coloring carefully with crayons, cutting with regular and decorative scissors and learning about the Swiss artist Paul Klee.

Each art project will be displayed around the school building and on my                             twitter @ArtwithMrsPark.  Please come by and see the students' awesome accomplishments!!!
