Welcome to Math! I'm Mrs. Walker, and I will be your child's math teacher this year. 

My goal this year is to get more students to feel confident about their current math skills and increase those skills by at least one grade level. 

I'd like to partner with you! I will need your participation, your honesty, and some help at home. Math is quite different now than it was back in the day and if I knew then what I have learned to teach now, the sky would be limitless. The delivery of math instruction has changed drastically! We've moved from a model of "just do it because..." to garnering a better understanding of not just how, but why we do math. We have to make math real to children. We are preparing them for a world much different than the one we grew up in. The math skills that they learn here, and from here on out, are absolutely critical. No matter their career choice in the very near future, a strong foundation in math will be paramount to their success! With that being said, welcome to math!
