The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater is the first thrilling book in a series of four books that follows a main cast of four characters, Gansey, Ronan, Adam, and Blue in Henrietta, Virginia. Blue comes from a family of psychics but she herself doesn’t possess the same abilities that they do. She does, however, amplify the psychic powers of others just by being in the same room as them. One downside of living with a family of psychics is that everyone knows what will happen except for you. For example, she’s been told all her life that when she kisses her true love he will die and because of this she decides to cut all boys out of the picture to avoid any accidental kisses/deaths. She especially stays away from the ones who go to the local all-boys private school, Aglionby. However, her plans get thrown aside when she discovers something odd about herself and meets a certain group of boys who turn her life upside down. From this story you can expect found family, magic, horror, LGBTQ+ characters, and a beautifully detailed world.
