VolTrekkers Service-learning Award and Training Scheme

VolTrekkers Service-learning Award and Training Scheme is a programme organized by Student Affairs Office (SAO) and supported by Hong Kong Shun Lung Yan Chak Foundation Limited (香港順龍仁澤基金會) which aims at providing solid service-learning experience to HSUHK students and fostering them to become global citizens. Students can plan and implement their own service projects through this programme under the support and guidance from SAO.

Award Scheme

Award Scheme encourages students to organise local services with their professional knowledge and give back to society. In groups of 3-5, students will organise sustained local services after identifying the community needs. Students are expected to manage the service planning and volunteer coordination by themselves. Thus, they are able to develop organisational skill and problem-solving skill, as well as to gain inspiration from the services.

The SAO provides adequate training and consultation to the service teams throughout the scheme. After completion of the projects, service teams will be invited to share the impact of projects and their learning experience with a presentation. A maximum of four outstanding service teams will be selected by the selection panel and will be eligible for the fully subsidized overseas service-learning trip in June.

Training Scheme

Training Scheme motivates students to engage in local and overseas voluntary service planning, and exchange with volunteers from different cultures. Selected students will form a service team which not only participate in community caring projects, but also involve in itinerary design, service planning and project coordination alongside the SAO as well as local service partners, etc. The service team will have the chance to join an overseas service-learning trip sending love and care to more people in needs around the world.
