Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the New Illinois Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English language arts and mathematics to all students in grades 3-8. This assessment occurs once per year, typically during March or April.

Illinois Science Assessment (ISA)

​This Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) page will be updated as information becomes available. The ISA is not an alternate assessment. Students who participate in the DLM-AA alternate assessment will be assessed in science in grades 5, 8, and 11.

In compliance with federal testing requirements, Illinois will administer a science assessment to students enrolled in a public school district in grades 5, 8 and 11. The assessment will be administered in an online format and is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which were adopted in 2014. This assessment occurs once per year, typically during March.


Dynamics Learning Maps Alternative Assessment DLM-AA

The Dynamics Learning Maps Alternate Assessment is for students with an IEP and a most significant cognitive delay. The DLM-AA is administered as an alternative assessment for IAR & ISA for students in grades 3-8. This assessment occurs once per year, typically during April or May.


WIDA ACCESS testing

The Access assessment is for students who speak a language other than English. This assessment measures a student’s progress to English Proficiency in Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing. This assessment occurs once per year, typically during January or February.


Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)

MAP is a benchmark assessment that is used to measure a student's academic progress in reading and math. This assessment occurs three times a year, typically in September, January and May.


Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS)

KIDS is a survey that is used to measure a student’s readiness for kindergarten. There are 14 measures that provide information about a students’ in 4 domains which include; approaches to learning and self regulation, social and emotional development, language and literacy development and math.
