Mr. Thomsen's Summer Reading Challenge

I encourage all (PK-6) HPS students to participate in the Summer Principal Reading Challenge! Reading with children outside of school is the best way to help them achieve strong early literacy.

How do I participate in the summer principal challenge?

If you want to participate in the challenge, all you need to do is READ A.R. BOOKS and TAKE A.R. TESTS!

What is the challenge?

Your challenge is to earn 20 A.R. points from June 1st - August 7th. Mrs. Abbott will track and confirm each A.R. Test and Point Total.

What should I do when I think I have finished the challenge?

Please print and complete the Reading Journal which is attached below. If you don't have access to a printer, you may write a letter to me with your first & last name, your 2020-21 grade level, what was your favorite book, and why it was your favorite book! Please send to the school or drop it off in the west drop box in a sealed envelope with attention to Mr. Thomsen.

*Students who complete the challenge will receive their PRIZE at Open House night!
