For this school year, grades will be calculated using a total points system in all my classes (see below for a simple example). Usually, assessments are worth more points so they are naturally weighted more in the overall average. Students can expect to have homeworks, checks for understanding and assessments count toward their averages. Class participation may also factor into grades.

*this is blank, not a zero, if a student does not attend (& therefore does not get added to the points earned nor points possible)
Current grade = sum of points earned/sum of points possible
=16/21 = 76%
