I was raised in Walworth, New York, a small but growing suburb of Rochester located along Lake Ontario. After graduating as valedictorian of Gananda High School, I attended Elmira College.
I received a bachelors of arts with a mathematics major, and a double minor in computer science and women's studies. Elmira College was also the place where I met my husband.
After graduating, we moved to the Poughkeepsie area and both were fortunate enough to get teaching positions. I went to Marist College to receive my teaching certification and my master's degree at nights while I taught during the day. I started working in the Hyde Park School district in 2004 and have taught a variety of math courses during that time. From 2005 to 2018 I also coached JV Volleyball at FDR. I currently live in Poughkeepsie with my husband, 2 daughters, son, and 2 dogs.
In 2015, I was selected as a New York State Master Teacher. The NYSMTP celebrates the work of the highest-performing STEM teachers by establishing an expert community dedicated to developing expertise in the areas of content, pedagogy, and students’ families and communities.
